KEY INGREDIENTS:
Sesame Oil
Tiny seeds, with a powerful punch, sesame seeds have been used for over 3,500 years in the Mediterranian & India for their powerful healing effects. The sacred text of Ayurveda, Caraka Samhita, calls sesame oil the best of all oils. Ayurveda most certainly has a love affair with this oil & after using it, it is easy to see why! Sesame oil is traditionally used in Ayurvedic nasya oil formulations due to its warming, grounding & calming effects on the nervous system. It is highly nourishing & moisturizing, bringing deep relief to dry, irritated, or congested nasal passageways. Sesame oil also has anti-microbial properties which help eliminate any funk from the body, while keeping your ojas, or immune system, strong. We highly recommend using this oil daily, before travel or if you experience chronic or acute sinus infections, congestion, or allergies.
Gotu Kola
First grown in India, gotu kola can be found growing in the Himalaya Mountain Range. According to Dr. Frawley, a leading Ayurvedic doctor, yogis ingest it in India prior to meditation because of its calming, stabilizing effects on the body & mind. This potent herb is known to balance both the right & left hemispheres of the brain & is tridoshic in nature, meaning it is balancing to all three doshas. Gotu kola is a brain tonic, as it revitalizes brain cells, & is also packed with vitamin C. Used traditionally in nasya oil formulations, gotu kola brings serenity & clarity to the mind.
Shankh Pushpi
Shankh pushpi is a rejuvenative tonic which is particularly beneficial for cognitive function & also helps restore a depleted nervous system. Ayurveda explains that it is a perfect herbal component to any nasya oil formulation because it gently stimulates a dull mind while it calms an overly active mind, creating perfect harmony. Shankh pushpi improves concentration, memory & encourages healthy blood flow to the brain.
Eucalyptus
Did you know that sinus inflammation is the main cause of chronic sinus congestion & allergies? Well, eucalyptus contains citronellal, a monoterpenoid, that is anti-inflammatory & analgesic, helping to reduce sinus inflammation. This reviving essential oil also helps expel mucus out of the body, as well as flushing out any microorganisms that may be acting as allergens & it even gently dilates the bronchioles of the lungs, so you can take in a deeper, fuller breath.
Ravensara
Ravensara is known as “the oil that heals” in its native Madagascar. This plant truly does not get the acclaim it deserves but we are here to share with you how it is a game changer! A primary compound of ravensara is limonene which is known for its anti-inflammatory & antioxidant effects. Another compound found within this powerful plant is estragole. Estragole has been known to reduce fatigue, headaches, improve sleep & stimulate cognitive function. We haven’t even gotten to the fact that ravensara is anti-viral, antimicrobial & antibacterial, making it a perfect ally when you feel congestion or the common cold coming on. Yep, ravensara is certainly a must for optimal health!
