Coriander is the seed of the cilantro plant and has been used in Ayurvedic healing for thousands of years. The cooling and bitter energetic properties of coriander can help to balance hypermetabolism which occurs when the digestive fire (agni) is too strong and hot. Additionally, it assists with clearing toxins (ama) from the digestive tract and relieves flatulence. 


Cumin has a complex and fragrant aroma that makes it a culinary favorite, especially when preparing Indian dishes. From a herbal perspective, cumin has the power to expel gas and toxic residue (ama) from the digestive tract as well as enhance the absorption of nutrients. 


Sweet and cooling in nature, fennel is an excellent herbal ally to enhance agni without aggravating the fiery quality associated with pitta type digestion. This herb is also known to dispel gas and relax any tension in the digestive tract. 


The one and only Golden Goddess of Ayurveda, turmeric, contains anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which help to ease pitta type digestive ailments while keeping the intestinal flora balanced and healthy. The addition of turmeric in our Pitta Spice Blend makes this formulation an excellent seasoning to use when whipping up your favorite Ayurvedic kitchari or curry dishes. 


Regarded in Ayurveda as one of the best digestive stimulants, cardamom has a pleasant aroma and is balancing to all 3 doshas. Helpful in reducing inflammation and replenishing the body with antioxidants, we love the benefits this fragrant herb adds to our Pitta Spice Blend!

Churna Directions: Stir 1/2 tsp into ½ cup of tepid water & drink 30 minutes prior to each meal to cultivate digestive balance. 

Seasoning Directions: Use in your cooking or sprinkle on top of your food to aid in healthy digestion. 

Caring for your products: 

Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Avoid contamination by keeping moisture out of the jar. Close lid tightly after each use.

Life of your products: 

Since there are no preservatives, please use within 6-8 months.

A digestive churna is a blend of powdered dipanas, or digestive herbs, mixed with warm water. Ayurveda recommends consuming a digestive churna 30 minutes prior to each meal in order to awaken jatharagni (also known as agni or the digestive fire) & kickstart the process of healthy digestion. Dipanas may also be added to your diet by incorporating them into your cooking or even by simply sprinkling them on top of your meal before eating. Thus, we would like to encourage you to get creative in the kitchen & use our dosha-specific Spice Blends not only as digestive churnas, but also as your go-to all-purpose spice blend to use while preparing your favorite meals & snacks.
