    The Winter Solstice & Ayurveda

    Winter solstice blessings! It's a magical time of the year when we honor the darkness and celebrate the light. In Ayurvedic traditions, this important celestial event is met with reverence and gratitude. As the shortest day and longest night of the year, the winter solstice invites us to turn inward, reflect and restore our energy. It is a sacred pause, encouraging stillness, self-care and the setting of intentions for the coming year.


    This winter solstice and beyond, we invite you to join us as we practice a grounding meditation to commune our bodies, minds and spirits with the natural world. Through Ayurvedic rituals such as meditation, warm oil massage ( abhyanga ) and consuming nourishing vata-balancing foods , we can align with the changing energies of the season.

    Earth Meditation for Winter Bliss


    • To guide yourself through a grounding meditation during this special time, find a quiet and cozy space where you won't be interrupted.

    • Sit or lie down comfortably, close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to center yourself.

    • Visualize roots growing from the soles of your feet, reaching deep into the earth, anchoring you down.

    • Feel the energy of the earth beneath you, supporting and nurturing you.

    • With each breath, imagine pulling up the earth's grounding energy through your roots, filling your body with warmth and stability.

    • As you sit in this state of connectedness, set your intentions for the winter months ahead.

    • Focus on what you want to cultivate in your life, what you want to release and how you can align your energy with the rhythms of the natural world.

    • Take your time to soak in this grounding energy, allowing it to recharge your spirit and renew your sense of balance.

    • When you are ready, slowly open your eyes, feeling centered, grounded and ready to embrace the shift of the season with a sense of peace and purpose.
