    More Herbs, Less Salt Day

Today is More Herbs, Less Salt Day!

Did you know that today is More Herbs, Less Salt Day? We recently learned about this national holiday and immediately knew this was a celebration that Ayurveda could get behind.

More Herbs, Less Salt Day helps raise awareness of the amount of salt we consume daily by reminding us that a high-sodium diet is bad for our health and that we should always flavor our meals with delicious herbs and spices chock full of vitamins, nutrients and overall health benefits.

Although the body needs a small amount of sodium to function properly, most people consume too much, which can lead to health problems such as high blood pressure, obesity, sleep disturbances, stomach cancer and more. Reducing one’s daily salt intake by replacing it with beneficial herbs can lower blood pressure, support heart health and lead to overall health and well-being, not to mention the intuitive healing benefits that each spice and herb inherently offers to the body.

More Herbs, Less Salt Day is celebrated annually at the end of August when fresh herbs in the garden are at their peak. Join us in celebrating this wellness day by making a meal with herbs from your garden &/or following one of the tips below.
